Terms & conditions

How ordering, group bookings, private hire and your visit work, and the terms for using this website.

Last updated 21 October 2026.

Who we are

The Batch House is a food hall and bar at The Glass Yard, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield S41 8JY. It is operated by The Bank House Bar & Restaurant Ltd, registered in England and Wales under company number 10348087, whose registered office is The Glass House, Hathersage Hall Business Centre, Main Road, Hathersage, Hope Valley S32 1BB. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean that company.

The Batch House is part of The Northern Collective, a group of independent pubs, restaurants, shops and places to stay. Each venue has its own terms.

You can reach us at hellobatchhouse@outlook.com, or by messaging us on Facebook or Instagram. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

The kitchens and the bar

The Batch House Bar and Batch House Bakery are run by us. The other kitchens at The Batch House are independent food businesses trading under one roof. Each kitchen, ours included, prepares its own food, sets its own menu, prices and opening times, and is responsible for the food it serves, including its allergen information.

Menus, dishes and prices on this website are shown in good faith, but kitchens change them from time to time, and kitchen times may differ from the hall's opening hours. What the kitchen tells you when you order is what applies.

Ordering and paying

You can order by scanning the QR code on your table, or in person at any kitchen's till or at the bar.

  • Ordering by QR code. Table ordering is provided by Stampede, our ordering platform. It lets you order from several kitchens and the bar in one go and pay once. Stampede takes your order and payment and passes each item to the kitchen or bar making it. Stampede's own terms cover their app and checkout; these terms cover your visit.
  • Ordering at a till. When you order and pay at an independent kitchen's own till, you are buying from that kitchen. At the bar and Batch House Bakery, you are buying from us.

Please check your order before you pay. If something is missing, wrong or not as it should be, tell the kitchen or the bar team straight away, while you are still with us, so it can be put right on the spot. That is the quickest way to a replacement or a refund.

Allergies and dietary needs

If you have an allergy or intolerance, please check before you order, every time, even if you have had the dish before. You can add your allergies and preferences to a QR order, and you can ask any kitchen or the bar team about what is in a dish.

Each kitchen is responsible for its own allergen information. Because several kitchens cook in one building and everybody shares the seating, we cannot guarantee that any dish is free from traces of an allergen. If your allergy is severe, please speak to the kitchen before ordering.

Alcohol and age

As licensed premises we are required by law to refuse to sell alcohol to anyone under 18, or to anyone who appears to be drunk, and we may ask for photo ID as proof of age. Drinks bought for someone who is under 18 or drunk will be refused.

Children

Children are very welcome, and several kitchens have a kids' menu. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult throughout their visit. Unaccompanied children, and large groups such as school parties, should speak to us first.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep your dog on a lead and off the seating and tables, and keep it away from the kitchen counters. You are responsible for your dog's behaviour and for any mess or damage it causes. We may ask you to take a dog outside if it is upsetting other customers or staff.

Group bookings

Most people just walk in, order and find a seat. For a larger group we are happy to save you some space: email us or message us on Facebook or Instagram. A booking is only in place once we have replied to confirm it.

Deposits. For larger groups, busy dates such as match days, and some events, we may ask for a deposit to hold your space. If we do, we will tell you in writing before you confirm how much it is, when it is due, what it covers (usually it comes off your bill on the day) and when it can be refunded if you cancel or your numbers change. Those written terms then apply. A booking that needs a deposit is only confirmed once the deposit is paid.

We take deposits through a secure payment link and will never ask for card details by email, message or phone. If your plans change, please let us know as soon as you can so we can free the space for others. We may release saved space if your group has not arrived around the time you gave us.

Private hire

Our event space is free to book for local groups, businesses and celebrations, subject to availability. A booking is confirmed only when we confirm it in writing, and the details we agree in writing (date, times, numbers and anything else) form part of these terms.

  • The person who makes the booking is responsible for their guests on the day, including their behaviour and any damage they cause beyond normal wear and tear.
  • Food and drink should come from the kitchens and the bar. A celebration cake is fine if you tell us when you book.
  • Anyone you bring in to provide a service, such as a DJ or decorator, needs our agreement first and must hold their own public liability insurance.
  • We may ask for a deposit, and for some events a minimum spend. If we do, we will set out the amount, when it is due, how any minimum spend works and the cancellation terms in writing before you confirm, and the booking is confirmed once the deposit is paid. Those written terms then apply.
  • Please let us know as early as you can if you need to cancel or change numbers.

We may cancel a private hire if we cannot open for reasons beyond our control, or if the event turns out to be materially different from what was agreed, or likely to breach our licence or put people at risk. If we cancel, we will tell you as soon as we can and refund anything you have paid us for it.

Events

Our regular events, such as the PopMaster Quiz and Aquarius Revival Night, are free to come to unless we say otherwise. Times, formats and prizes may change, and an event may occasionally be moved or cancelled. If an event is ever ticketed, the details given when you book apply.

We sometimes take photographs or short videos at events and around the hall to use on our website and social media. If you would rather not appear in them, just tell the person taking them or a member of staff.

Your visit

  • We may refuse entry, or ask anyone to leave, whose behaviour puts other customers or our staff at risk, spoils other people's visit, or would breach the conditions of our licence.
  • Please do not bring your own food or drink to eat or drink in the hall, other than food for babies and young children.
  • Smoking and vaping are not allowed inside.
  • Seating is shared and for customers of the kitchens and the bar.
  • If you lose something, ask a member of staff or email us. Items handed in are kept safe for a reasonable time.

CCTV. CCTV is in operation inside and around The Batch House to help keep customers and staff safe and to prevent and detect crime. Our privacy policy explains how recordings are handled.

Free Wi-Fi. Free guest Wi-Fi is provided through Stampede. You sign in on Stampede's page, and its terms for the Wi-Fi apply. Please use it lawfully and considerately: no illegal or offensive content, and nothing that disrupts the network for others. The Wi-Fi is provided as it is, without any guarantee of speed or availability, and we may limit or end a connection that is being misused.

Parking

The car park at The Glass Yard is owned and operated by a separate company, not by The Batch House. At the time of writing it is free for the first 2 hours (90 minutes on Chesterfield FC match days, and 3 hours after 6pm), and longer stays must be registered using the QR code by the doors nearest the road and are charged at £2 an hour. The operator sets and enforces those rules: the signs in the car park and the operator's own terms apply, registration and payment are handled on its system, and any parking charge is a matter between you and the operator. We cannot cancel or refund parking charges. Vehicles and their contents are left at the owner's risk.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.

Otherwise, we are not responsible for loss or damage that was not a foreseeable result of something we did wrong, for losses relating to any business you carry on, or for personal belongings brought into the hall, unless the loss was caused by our negligence. A kitchen is responsible for the food it sells. We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Comments and complaints

If something is not right on the day, please tell the kitchen or a member of the bar team straight away so it can be sorted while you are here. For anything else, or if you are not happy with the response, email us at hellobatchhouse@outlook.com and we will look into it and reply.

Changes and the law

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you visit or book applies. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
