What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser, so that it can work properly and remember things as you move from page to page. Some last only until you close your browser (session cookies); others stay for a set time (persistent cookies). Cookies set by the website you are visiting are first-party cookies; cookies set by another company's content on the page are third-party cookies.
The cookies this website sets
This website, run by The Bank House Bar & Restaurant Ltd for The Batch House, sets two kinds of cookie. Strictly necessary cookies make the site work; they do not need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and they hold no information that identifies you. Analytics cookies help us count visits; they are optional and are only set if you say yes in the cookie pop-up.
| Cookie | Set by | Type | How long | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| the-northern-collective-session | This website | Strictly necessary | 2 hours | Keeps your visit working as you move between pages. |
| XSRF-TOKEN | This website | Strictly necessary | 2 hours | A security token that stops other websites from making requests in your name. |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics (optional) | 2 years | Tells one visitor's visits apart from another's, so we can count them. Only set if you say yes. |
| _ga_5F7GQNQ07M | Google Analytics | Analytics (optional) | 2 years | Keeps track of the current visit for our Google Analytics account. Only set if you say yes. |
Google Analytics cookies are set on this website's own address, but the information they collect is sent to Google, which acts as our data processor. We see visit totals and trends, never who you are, and Google's advertising features are turned off. We do not use advertising or social media tracking cookies, and this website does not embed maps, videos or social media feeds, so no other company can set cookies through our pages. Our fonts are served from our own server, not from Google.
The cookie pop-up
The first time you visit, a pop-up at the foot of the screen asks whether you are happy for us to use Google Analytics cookies. "Yes" and "No thanks" are given equal weight, nothing optional is set until you choose, and saying no makes no difference to how the site works. Your browser remembers your answer in its local storage, under the name batch:consent, so the pop-up does not appear on every page. That is not a cookie, is never sent to us, and is asked again after a year.
You can change your mind at any time from the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, Google Analytics stops collecting from your next page; to remove the _ga cookies already set, clear this site's cookies in your browser.
Other websites
Some links take you to other websites: Stampede when you order from your table or sign in to the Wi-Fi, Google Maps for directions, the car park operator's registration page, and Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Once you are on those sites, they set their own cookies under their own cookie and privacy policies, which we do not control.
Managing cookies
You can see, block and delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block the strictly necessary cookies, parts of this website may not work as they should. Google also offers a browser add-on that stops Google Analytics on every website. For more about cookies and how to manage them, see aboutcookies.org.
